Previously known as the Gallagher Smartfix, a Fault Finder can save hours in time diagnosing shorts, low voltage, and other electric fence issues. HOW IT WORKS

When used as a DVM: can be used to measure voltage on all energizer types, measures up to 15KV; use without earth lead for everyday fence voltage reading (earth lead will give more precise readings, particularly for measuring earth voltage.); retractable probe allows easy access to energizer terminals, cut-out switches and other difficult to reach areas
When used as a Current Meter: large arrows makes for easy fault finding by showing direction of fault; digital display of current (A) makes for easy detection of faults; bar graph indicating voltage while in current meter mode; cordless operation

My son and I set up three paddocks today with three stands of poly wire in each run to help keep in the goats, sheep, cows and donkey and thought we were finished but as I got up to the house heard the fence around the backyard pinging. I grabbed this handy device, put it to the strand and in less than 10 minutes had found the issue. What a time saver. So worth the money if you've ever spent hours looking for a short like I have in the past on our four plus miles of fencing. Super easy to use.

This is an excellent fence tester. If you run cattle behind an electric fence forget about the cheap ones you buy from the local farm supply buy this one. It helps me in finding shorts but best of all I can just test the end of the fence and make sure I am getting a good zap.

The SmartFix paid for itself quickly because saved me from having to buy a new energizer. I was losing current and couldn't find out where but the fault finder lead me right to the source. Now my fence runs much hotter than before. Its easy to use, doesnt require a ground probe, turns itself on and off automatically, and has an easy to read display. If you have livestock inside hi-tensile electric, you will thank your lucky stars for this guy!

If you maintain just a few miles of electric fence, you will appreciate having one of these. It will save you miles and hours of walking the fence line looking for the fault. I also like the way it turns itself on automatically.
